Bobby's Toddler Room Tour

Hi Friends! We moved B to his toddler bed back in December and tried  update his room to incorporate things that he's grown love. I want to start off by saying that we rent a 2 bedroom apartment, our home isn't as big as I want, but I try to make my entire house feel as cozy and home-y as possible. I totally believe, that regardless if you rent or own you should decorate your house!

If you didn't know by now, B loves Sesame Street. I knew I had to add touches of Sesame Street in his big boy room.

I painted the closet doors with a chalkboard paint I brought at Lowe's, the area rug is also from Lowe's. The area rug was $20 and is great for my toddlers room, because dirt doesn't easily show up. The picture frames are covered in mustache duct tape, then have letters glued inside.

We've used the same changing pad since Bobby came home from the hospital, and we're working on getting him potty trained so we don't have to use it anymore! The light is from Ikea and the little bucket is his Easter Basket from this year.

I love the board that we had everyone sign at the baby shower and plan to keep it up until I dye he wants to take it down. The bear to the right was a super sweet gift from his "Queenie", it has his name and birth date.  The bear to the left, was one of the very first gifts I gave to his daddy back when we first started dating 9 years ago (Yikes!).

The car bed is made by KidKraft, it was a gift from my mother-in-law. I found a link to the exact same one here. It was the perfect transition from crib to bed, but I plan on switching him to twin bed in a year or two. The quality is great, my hubby had no problem putting it together even though it had ba-jillion little pieces.

Bedding is from Target.com

Letters are painted from Michael's Craft Store

The toy chest was a gift from my mom, his "Queenie". The brand is Harmony Kids, I found the same one on Amazon (here) if you want more details. For the most part we keep all his toys in the closet or play area, so only a small amount of toys are kept in his bedroom. Whatever toys are kept in his room are kept tucked away, this helps his room look less cluttered.

I did a previous blog post showing how I added all his important newborn items into this shadow box. I like to keep it by the door in his room, it really reminds me how quickly time has passed and to enjoy the present moments.

That's it! I hope this gives you a teeny bit of inspiration or encouragements to go ahead and decorate your rented space. I love to blend new and old with sentimental pieces, that's what we did in our little guys room! Most of the things in his room are inexpensive so if your working on a tighter budget like us do like we did and PAINT! It will change the entire look of a room and really make it feel like home!

Happy April Fools Day!

happy april fools day comments and orkut scraps

Happy April Fools Day Friends! The first of April has come so quickly, but I'm looking forward to Easter and the start of really nice whether. I didn't have any pranks on pulled, nor did I do any pranks. I'm too grown for pranks... NOT! Lol, I love joking around and being silly, but I didn't remember to plan anything funny. The hubby didn't even know it was Aprils Fools Day, I had to tell him!
This month I plan on doing our entryway. I've been looking for a corner side table, but haven't had any luck. Once I find the table, then I can start. I also decorating our play area, kitchen, laundry room. These are 3 small rooms, since we are in an apartment, so it will be fun to see what I can come up with. For the kitchen I plan on painting the cabinets, but need to get the OK first. They are extremely old and gross, so I'm sure they  won't mind. I plan on laying the temporary flooring, doing something with the back splash, painting the wall, and other little projects. I'm really excited to start all that.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you had an amazing month, and I hope you didn't get pranked too hard. Please subscribe and comment because it would mean so much to me!

Our Happy Family Gallery Wall

I, like so many others, find the gallery wall to be a great feature to add to any home. This is one feature that I had in our old place, and really wanted to do it again in this apartment. So when we packed up our apartment, and I neatly peeled off my decals and put them on cardboard in hopes that they would be able to re-adhere to the wall. Well, they don't! I had a hot mess on my hands. Everyday a new flower would fall off the wall. It was pretty pathetic. I almost went out and brought spray adhesive, but luckily I didn't have to. We decided to take a trip to IKEA for the Expedite, and my decal was there! 2 years later they're still selling the same exact one. Let that have been Target, they'd be gone the next week! I was so happy to have them stick properly, and add the touch that they once did. Here is the way I did our gallery wall.

:side note:: After seeing the pictures, I think I need to use all matted black frames and add more variety in size. What do you think?

Most of the frames are from Ikea, Marshall's, or Target. The cross candle holder was a gift from my sister.

These are fresh flowers that I think look so pretty. Who doesn't like flower!
Here is the piece that we purchased at Ikea. I said before that we are turning the dining room into the playroom for Baby B. So the bottom rows are all toys are the top is decor stuff, to make it look nice. So far I like the way that it's styled, but I'm sure I'll change it again. As for the room, we have much more planned to make it kid friendly, so be sure to watch out for that post!

Decorating our Apartment Bathroom

I've been slowly trying to decorate each room in our rented 2 bedroom apartment. In our last apartment it felt like each room was decorated, but nothing was complete. So what I've decided to do know is focus on 1 room at a time. This is the first room that is completely finished.
For all of you that rent like we do, it can be challenging to make your apartment feel like home. Even though we can't change flooring or tiling, I tried to make it as home-y as possible. Here is what I did to add our own touch to our tiny apartment bathroom..

I wanted the space to feel clean and light with mostly silver and white accents. The paint is Olympic semi-gloss that I used in our living room. I had enough left over to use in the bathroom. I don't have the name of the color, but it's a grayish-blue.
I found this jewelry holder at Marshall's for $14.99. I was going to make a necklace holder, but when I saw this I like it a lot. I really like that it has a door, but you can still see your jewelry. I even can keep my watch on the shelf.

The mirrored jar is from Marshall's as well it this was on clearance for $5.00. It gives the silver accent I was looking for, and holds all my Bobbie pins and hair ties. The soap dispenser was a gift
I showed you this shelf in a previous post, but this is it completely decorated. I added the friend sign and candle. I also moved some things around. I love adding personal touches to any space.
There's a close-up of the candle. I think it's a really cute decoration.
Another thing that any renter can do it change knob and pulls. That's what I did on the cabinets. I just kept the old ones, just in case my landlord wants them put back on. I found these at Micheal's a while back, and they were on sale for about $5.00

*** Disclosure: I'm about to show you in my cabinets, it's not organized the way that I'd like, but for now this is how I have it***

I do plan on getting matching baskets and adding some type of shelving. I need to figure out exactly where everything will "live"! Not everything has a home yet

These two things are really old, and I've had them forever, but they work well with the space. I love fake flowers, and have them in just about every room!

The shower curtain is a recent purchase from Target and I believe it was around $20.00. The whole bathroom was decorated for about $100 and even though it was completely renovated (which I wish it had been), it's my way of adding the special touch to our apartment.

I hope your having an amazing weekend!

DIY CUPCAKE STAND plus MORE!

Hi everyone! I hope you had an amazing weekend, because I sure did. I wanted to share 2 projects I've done recently. I saw a couple blog posts where they were making their own cupcake stands, and  decided to give it a whirl! If you want the full tutorial the link will be here. If not, here's the cliffs note version. To start off you will need:
2 large dinner plates (I choice square just because they were red, most people use round. Either one will work)
1 appetizer size plate
2 candle stick holders (1 long & 1 shorter)
Acrylic paint
Strong adhesive

What I did was first paint the candle sticks. Once they're dry take your adhesive and apply a moderate amount to the bottom of the candle stick. Place that same end with the adhesive onto the center of the large dinner plate. I used the longer candle stick on the bottom section and the shorter on the top section. You'll need to allow time for the adhesive to dry, but once it's completely dry your good to go!

I also took this old doctor office picture that was so graciously give to me, and revamped it. If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m kind of obsessed with chevron print. I had to completely take it apart the frame, which was a little annoying, but once it was done, I was really happy. For now I have it in the living room, but I’m not too sure how I like it there. Oh! The curtains are also part of my DIY weekend. I wish I could’ve hung them higher but the ceiling drops down on the one side and I wouldn’t figure out how I could do it. So if anyone knows a way, please let a girl know!

That’s all I have to share! Tomorrow is B’s birthday and then Saturday is his party so I will be sure to have all the details to share.
I hope you all have an amazing Monday!

Monogrammed Key Ring Holder

I’ve been loving all things monogrammed. So my newest projects incorporate our monogram. It’s a classic way to customize your home.

We moved into our new apartment a week ago. I’ve been unpacking for the most part, and trying to get everything organized. Here are two projects I’ve completed, for our new home.

key ring1 I love this key ring holder and think it’s going to look great that the door, above a table I have yet to complete. I’ll be sure to show you the complete look once it’s done!key ring2

This is what you you see as soon as you walk in. I like it, but feel like it looks a little sparse. I think it needs something more. What would you add? I plan on painting soon, but wanted this up to see how I like it.026

I hope you are having a great week! I’m linking up to the link parties listed at the bottom of my page!
