Adventures of a SAHM: Please Touch Museum Philadelphia, Pa

Please touch Museum

Since becoming a stay at home mom to my rambunctious toddler, I've been trying to find new and exciting things for us to do. We're lucky to live a large city that has a long list of things to do. Many of those things are geared to older kids, but one of our all time favorite places is The Please Touch Museum. It's a children's museum that's perfect for kids of all ages, especially those age 2-7. The museum is extremely stroller friendly, they even have little areas for you to park it. They offer a coat check, family restrooms, off street parking and ample seating areas. They have a cafe which has an nice assortment of food, drinks and snacks. The best part is, if you don't want to buy lunch you can bring it with you. Just set up at one of the many tables they have, you'll see many others doing the same thing.

We have the basic membership that gains admission for 4 people as well as  1 free parking spot. The membership also gives you a discount on food, carousel rides and admission for additional guests. I was happy to find out that as a member you get free admission to over 200 children's museums nationwide. Then my happiness went to sadness when I found out on April 1, 2013 it will no longer be free, but instead be 50% off. Here is a list to all the museums that are included. If your not a member, Target hosts a discount night every first Wednesday of the month from 5:00-7:00pm admission is $2.00. I'm not sure how crowded it gets but it might be worth it just to see.

I'm obsessed with this black and white area they have set up! So trendy, I want it for my home!
The Please Touch Museum has 8 different exhibits as well as, a theater, art room and story time. B loves anything music related so the giant piano and Rainforest's Rhythm exhibit are  huge hits. Other goodies are the kitchen setup, grocery store, space area, and the water way. Alice in Wonderland is so adorable too! For kids under 3 they have different area sectioned off just for the little ones. This makes it fun for non-walkers or walkers just starting off. Everyday at closing time there's a parade that the kids love. They beat drums, yell, and march around the entire museum gathering all the kids.

Smashbox Primer Dupe: Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel

Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel is an awesome alternative to Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer. Not only is it cheaper but it also delivers the same the results as Smashbox Photo Finish Primer.

Monistat's active ingredient is Dimethicone 1.2%, which is listed as a skin protectant. Dimethicone is also found in the Smashbox primer, along with other ingredients. Dimethicone is a silicon based polymer often found in all sorts of cosmetics and hair products. In makeup and face products, it is usually used as a temporary filler for fine lines and wrinkles. Applying a thin layer to the face will act as barrier to the skin and help your makeup lay nicely on the skin. As with any primer, you don't want to apply too much because it will flake off. Make sure you allow it to dry before applying your foundation. If your a fan of a silicon primer this is a great alternative to try. You can purchase Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel at any drug store or online for as little as $5.00.

I've used this primer off and on for the past year (I switch between this and MAC Prep and Prime) and I highly recommend giving it a try. It's super soft and smooth and leaves your skin feeling the exact same way! It's oily free and completely odorless, thank God! If you have oily skin and are looking for something that will help with shine this won't be the product for you. You might want to try a more mattifying primer or one made for oily skin.

I've never tried it as an eye primer, so I have no clue if it will work. I'd assume that if your eyelids don't get oily throughout the day, then this could work for you. It might help your shadow stay on longer but it won't help the colors pop. I would suggest using a base for that.

When you compare the Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel to Smashbox Photo Finish Primer you get almost identical results for a fraction of the price. Even if your a lover of Smashbox I highly recommend giving this cheaper alternative a try. I'll take $5 over $36 any day, and I'll spent the $31 I saved on more makeup!

Have you tried this great alternative or do you have any tricks or money saving beauty tips? I'd love to hear!  I'll be back this week with more great tips!

An Ombre Lip and Juicy Couture Perfume Giveaway!!

** Be sure to check below for the Juicy Couture perfume Giveaway

The ombre lip is a popular trend that's a nice way to change up your everyday lip. There are many  different colors you can us but try to stay away from browns so you wont end up looking like a Chula.

In order to get  Ombre Lips you want your main lip color to be a slightly darker color. Then a nude which will be used in the center. A lip liner would work great or you can use a lip brush like I did. I used  Maybelline Color Whisper in Mad for Magenta and Flower Beauty Nude Narcissus.

 Now it's Giveaway time!!!!!!

Personalized Easter Basket

 photo cdf9776d-24bb-4b79-8ed8-f6bbbb2c2d9a.jpg

Since March is here and Easter is this month, I decided to start thinking about Easter baskets!  We've used the same Easter basket for the past 2 years. It was great when he was small, but now that he's a candy-loving toddler a small basket just won't work. This is a DIY Easter basket that will fit toys and candy!
I found the bucket at the Dollar Tree, they have a couple of different colors available. At just a dollar you can buy a couple in case you mess up! I painted the bucket with acrylic paint (have I mentioned I love me some acrylic paint!) and the fabric ties are from Walmart. I love the way this bucket turned out. For just a few bucks you have a personalized Easter basket, now I'll have more money to spend on what goes inside the basket!
