Flower Beauty: Product Review and Swatches

source
When I first heard about Drew Barrymore's makeup line Flower Beauty, I knew I had to give it a try. I went out and brought a couple products to review and swatch. Flower Beauty is available at Walmart and Walmart.com, they also have a website Flowerbeauty.com, facebook, and twitter. Flower Beauty is made in the USA, never tested on animals, and is said to be a high-end luxury product at a drugstore price.

They had a variety of products, I purchased 3 cream eye shadows, a nail polish, blush/bronzer duo, an eyeshadow quad and 3 lipsticks. I'll start off my review by saying my regular Walmart didn't carry Flower Beauty I live in Northeast Philadelphia and had to go to the Bensalem Walmart. The only Walmart that carried Flower Beauty were outside the city and that was disappointing. When I saw the display I was very impressed. It was bright white and looked very new and modern. The products come in the nicest packaging. Rose gold logos, glass jars, crisp white packaging, and magnetic closures are some of the details I was most impressed with. Each product has a cute and catchy name, which adds to the charm.

Color Play Cream eyeshadow $7.98

Please ignore these swatches on a baby wipe, when I did it on my hand it looked like crap!

Pros: Great packaging
          Highly pigmented
          Great price point

Cons: Messy
          Not long wearing

My Thought: When I first tried these cream shadows I was hoping they would be similar to Maybelline Color Tattoos. It wasn't like that at all. They aren't compressed into the jar, which makes them messy. The consistency is extremely wet, and that's why I feel it creases so easily. The color payoff is nice, with a metallic sheen but you must wear a base or primer underneath and even a shadow on top to make it look decent. I was disappointed with this product and would much rather buy Maybelline Color Tattoos or L'oreal Infallible Eye Shadows

Kiss Sticks $6.98

Velvet Lip Color in Set Me Freesia

High-Shine Lip Color in Nude Narcissus

Lip Service Lip Butter in Princess & the Peony

My thoughts: All 3 of these products are amazing, but the Velvet Lip Color in Set me Freesia is a must have. I love that it's smooth and creamy brown-ish nude with no shimmer or glitter. Nude Narcissus is more of a pink-ish nude with shimmer. Both are beautiful and different.I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved the all 3 Kiss Sticks, and will be re-buying all 3!

Nail 'd It Nail Lacquer in NP1 Go With The Flow-er $4.98

My thought: I love this taupe-gray color polish. It's a great neutral nail polish at a reasonable price. At $4.98 it's worth every penny. I was very happy with the color I choose.

Flower Shadow Play Eye Shadow Quad in EQ3 Foxy Browns $9.98

Pros: Great packaging
         Highly pigmented
          Easy to blend

Cons: Wasn't enough color variety since they only have 4 quads
           No mirror in the quad
1 of the eye shadows is chalky and gets shadow everywhere

My thoughts: These quad cost $9.98 which seems a bit high to me. The color payoff is great. All the shadows feel smooth and are easy to blend. There are only 4 different quads to choose from and it seemed like they all had very similar color. In the Foxy Brown quad there are 3 shadows that have shimmer and 1 matte color, I wish they would have given more matte colors. I'm happy with the shadows for the most part but if I had to choose between these and the Wet 'n Wild Eyeshadow Trio I would pick up the Wet 'n Wild.

Ready Set Glow! Blush/Bronzer Duo in Shimmering Goddess $9.98

Pros: Great matte bronzer
          Highly pigmented
          Long wearing
          Easy to blend

Cons: Very pigmented so you have to be very careful not to use too much
           Slightly chalky
            No mirror

My thoughts: This is my favorite product that I purchased from Flower Beauty. I love that the bronzer is matte and perfect for contouring. The blush is dark, but if used with a light hand it's beautiful. This Duo can be used day or night, just by applying more or less. This is the perfect duo and I will be re-buying this product.

Final thought: All in all Flower Beauty has some high quality products at drugstore prices. The Kiss Sticks, Nail Polish, and Blush/Bronzer Duo are my favorite and are highly recommended. The amazing packaging and beautiful display draws customers in to well made, well designed, and well thought out makeup line. While its beautiful and affordable, I hope Flower Beauty makes it into every Walmart so it accessible to everyone!

Have you tried out any of these products? Let me know what you think!
